But I was in the college-prep track, where the best teachers were placed and the students were for the most part well-behaved and serious. Though brief, South And West is a compelling read from one of the best essayists of our time. It never goes into personalities and describes the characters' thoughts in an over-simplified way. Clearly demonstrates that this practice is a deep and profound journey worthy of lifelong comprehensive study. and then ruthlessly takes them away. Dekker is able to keep most readers guessing about the perpetrator of the maddening threats and actions until pretty nearly the end.
