Well written from obviously extensive research in the papers of the principal players of the day and the campaign. We have a lot to learn from our struggles. He only infrequently attended classes at the Academy of Fine Arts, but in Florence, met other realist painters known as the Macchiaioli. Well it is a happy for now story. Although this book portrays a society from many years ago, I think that the story provides a lot of thoughts and reflections about our actual society. It concentrated on Henry's insecurities regarding the crown and his guilt over the death of the princes in the tower. The Fish Can Sing captivated me immediately, catching me up in its plot from its first line (which is something like "A well-known author once said that apart from losing one's mother, it is most fortunate to lose one's father") and enchanting me with its first chapter and continuing to do so throughout the novel. If there is a lingering feeling of regret in this story, it would not be for me to say. If you are more comfortable with a wider repertoire of words, and typically read with a background sense of the "flow" of each sentence, I believe McDuff will be far more readable while maintaining all the essence of the original work.
